Whats Next for Steve Massiah?
Steve Massiah was arrested, charged and released a month ago by US Federal authorities in connection with a $50 million mortgage fraud case. He is one of three men accused of defrauding banks and mortgages companies by falsifying documents. Massiah involvement in the scheme was through now infamous NY Relator Ed Ahmad. Ahmad is now facing 30 years in prison for 11 counts against him. Since then Libertycricket has learned that Massiah’s passport has been confiscated while the trial is ongoing.
Many in the New York and USA cricket community are speculating on what Massiah’s involvement is and weather he will go to prison or now. As far as Libertycricket is concerned Steve Massiah as with anyone else in American is innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. With that said lets allow the judicial process to decide on his fate.
As far as cricket is concerned, however, there is a deeper discussion at hand. Massiah 32, is the current Captain of the USA team and while the investigation continues, it is hard to see how USACA can continue to have him hold such a prestigious position with all the scrutiny around him. Having said that Massiah is still one of the best batsman in the US and the team will be surely miss his presence if he is not available for the 2012 season. There are two questions we need to think about:
1)So will USACA keep Massiah as Captain of USA?
2)Will USACA even pick Massiah while the investigation is ongoing.

What is it with us, humans? We band together to pull another human being when he is sliding. Steve may have been caught up in this thing. Maybe he knew what he was doing, maybe not. But let us remember that he has his rights. And, one of the rights we have is the right to the” presumption of innocence until proven guilty”. So folks, you may not like what Steve does (did) on the cricket field, but at this time he, as a colleague, and a fellow human, need our kind words to help him overcome what going on. Thank you.

Steve Massiah is a disgrace to US cricket. This is a man who thought he was something because Gladstone Mugabe dainty loved him and thought the sun shined out of him. When the team I coached (NWR) destroyed NY in the Nationals last year by 160 runs, the little prima donna walked off the opposit side of the field and refused to shake hands with my players or the umpires. He repeated his same disgusting behavior the following day when the NYR was beaten by 180 runs by SWR. He is a disgrace. His attitude stinks. His record in Hong Kong was so bad and his behavior towards the umpires was disgraceful. As long as his benefactor and boyfriend Gladstone Mugabe Dainty is in power, Massiah can do whatever he wants. He should be sacked for his behavior and record and for leading the US Cricket Team from Div 2 to Div 4 in one foul display of his lack of character and talent.
I think I saw Steve shopping in the Calvin klein store in the Tanger outlet mall on monday.
Steve can shop all he want until his case, but we know he ain’t going any where out of the US.
Innocent until proven guilty is the way to go…But if he did do this, he is a major dumb ass to say the least.
Interesting Article From Demerara wave.
Massiah should take a break from Cricket. Get his legal issues fixed and then come back.
How come no one mention that Quayyam Farruq also got caught?
Who is Farruq? Does he paly for the US as well?
Quayyam is a local cricketer in NY that got arrested in the same case.
